Are you tired of hearing that BREAKFAST is the most important meal of the day?
Ever wonder why do you need to eat BREAKFAST?
Let me share with you what will happen if you skip breakfast:
As its name implies, breakfast is to break the fast after a good night sleep. When you skip your morning meal, your body's rhythm of fasting and eating can easily be thrown off. How?Your body enters a prolonged fasting state and starts to believe that you won't be eating anytime soon. So, when you finally have your lunch, your body will store it as fat since it doesn't know when the next meal will come and better save it first! Eventually, this will lead to weight gain!
That's why you need to break the fast in the morning so that your body can use that food to power through the day!
When you wake up, your blood sugar that needed for muscles and brain to work efficiently is usually low. That's why you need breakfast to replenish it!
If your body doesn't get the fuel (energy) from foods, you may feel fatigue and zapped of energy, which you may ended up on binging later in the day. That, of course, leads to weight gain!
To sum up, breakfast is important to kick-start your metabolism, give you energy, provide you with nutrients and vitamins, and to prevent weight gain!
What's my breakfast routine?
BREAKFAST is a must to me! Breakfast is definitely my energy boost for the day and I would never skip breakfast! My habit of eating breakfast started since i was little kid that every morning i at least either have one glass of milk + milo or just milk.
I used to have milk powder all the time until i went to oversea, because i can hardly find any milk powder out there! Those Ang Mo like to drink fresh milk and milk powder tak laku 😰 😳
Since then (5 years ago), i started to drink fresh milk or UHT milk almost every day. It has become my eating habit to have fresh milk and usually with cereal or i will add the fresh milk in my smoothie for breakfast.
I know most people complaint that there's no time in the morning for breakfast. Truth is, breakfast doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to be a sit-down meal, a simple and fast breakfast such as a sandwich or a salad bowl plus low-fat yogurt/ fruits can easily eat on the go!
Why Milk?
According to the USDA's guidelines, milk is a prime source for the three important nutrients: Calcium, Vitamin D (which is added to fortified milk), as well as Potassium.
"Milk contains a big package of nutrients that are especially important for bone health," says Connie M. Weaver, PhD, who directs the nutrition department at Purdue University. "People who don't drink milk tend to be deficient in them. So it makes good sense to encourage people to consume dairy products."
Calcium and Vitamin D intake still remains low among Malaysians, which increases the risk of osteoporosis. In fact, 2 servings of milk a day can help to meet your nutritional requirement; and 1 serving at breakfast can provide 200mg of calcium to jump start your daily nutritional intake.
The recommended amount of calcium intake (RNI) for Malaysians is 800-1000mg per day for adult.
The recommended amounts of dairy in the Healthy U.S.-Style Pattern are based on age rather than calorie level and are 2 cup-equivalents per day for children ages 2 to 3 years, 2½ cup-equivalents per day for children ages 4 to 8 years, and 3 cup-equivalents per day for adolescents ages 9 to 18 years and for adults.
I am doing this challenge because i love to drink milk and i thought it was a good time to promote the importance of drinking milk and increase the awareness among Malaysians☺️
