Dinner at Suffolk House, Penang

August 2, 2017

A Georgian-styled mansion that is perfect for an evening high-tea session, a tasty lunch, or a fancy dinner. I had my dinner at the Grand Ballroom of Suffolk House last weekend with my parents. We really enjoyed the great meal surrounded with the sophisticated, romantic and cosy ambience that felt like we were back in old times. It is such a great place for celebration. Couples come here to celebrate their love, families come to gather, friends come to celebrate birthday, or people just come to dine in.

The dinner is available from 7pm - 10.30pm. I would suggest you guys to make a reservation before going there, which I did, and they will prepare the table beforehand.
We ordered two sets of five-course meal and one ala carte menu for the three of us (me, mum, and dad). The portion was just nice and sufficient for the three of us.
They do serve 3 course set dinner for Early Bird at only RM70+ per pax from 6.30 - 7.30pm, which is available from Sunday to Thursday and limited to 8 pax only. Besides dinner, they do also serve set lunch and afternoon tea

5 Course Set Dinner
Started off with the appetiser
Then we had this, shrimp and fish 'cocktail' served with momotaro & coriander emulsion and garnished with tempeh crumble. At the first look, I thought the 'cocktail' looked quite mushy, but hey, it tasted very nice and flavorful together with the fresh shrimp.
On the side, we had melange of heirloom tomatoes, fragrant leaves of salad with black rice crips and topped with laksa kefir dressing.
Soup of the day: Pumpkin soup served with sourdough granola, purslane, and holy basil oil.
The soup was very rich and not too creamy. It was very tasty, but just a little too salty for us. Otherwise, it will be perfect.
Main Course 1: Seafood Spaghetti with King Prawn
As you can see from the picture, this dish was filled with seafoods, including squid and clam, as well as cherry tomato and asparagus. It was very tasty and delicious, and I like it very much. It is better to share with 2-3 person as the portion was quite big.
Main Course 2: Local Herb Crusted Lamb Rack
'Roulade' of marinated zucchini and lamb jam filled with taro root mousseline, slow roasted truss tomato, and curried roselle jus.
I would recommend this dish to anyone! This is a must-try dish for those who can have lamb. It was so good. The texture of the lamb was just perfect and has very very mild of gamey flavor (for those who like to have lamb but cannot tolerate the gamey flavor of lamb, this is a great choice for you).
Main Course 3: Grilled Steak - Grain Fed Sirloin 200g
Served with smoked brinjal puree, chickpea panisses, 'Acar' of oriental mushroom, tectures of beetroot, and topped with red wine jus.
We had our meat done in Medium, which was the perfect texture for us. The meat was juicy and tasty. I like to taste it with a slight pinch of salt. For steak lover, you might want to try this dish as well.
A sweet ending with our desserts. Here's the Mango Crème Brulee served with young mango, coconut, basil and baby coriander, as well as white chocholate sorbet.
And we also had the Bittersweet Flourless Chocolate Cake together with nutmeg fruit textures, papaya and nutmeg sorbet.
We enjoyed our meal there at Suffolk House and would go again for the food.
Not to mention, they do have great customer service =)
