7-Course Creative Fine Dining @ Marco Creative Cuisine Only RM78!

May 1, 2017

At only RM78 you can enjoy a 7-course creative fine dining at MARCO Creative Cuisine located inside 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Old Wing) on the ground floor LOT G146. Fine dining always sounds expensive to me, but not now that I can enjoy a fine dine meal that costs less than RM100! I was so excited to try out this newly open restaurant.

MARCO Creative Cuisine - a modern gastronomy restaurant helmed by up-and-coming chef-owner Daren Leong. The place has just newly opened on 27th March 2017.
The restaurant is able to fit 62 diners at the same time.
I really like the warmth and elegant ambience here with the accompaniment of a calming aquarium of jellyfish swaying gently in the water.
Here's a short story behind the name of the menu - The Journey of Flavours from Chef Daren:
'' I was fascinated by how memory and personal experiences influence the way we taste food. That was how a multi-course meal, with its avenue for variety, became the key concept behind our menu. A meal is an experience and a journey of discovery in flavours, much like how our different experiences make up our own personal journeys.''
From the selection of ingredients, preparation, cooking to food preparation, each dish at MARCO is created with knowledge and care. Every dish is made from scratch, right from making stock and butchering poultry in-house.
''When you come for a meal at MARCO, you will be treated to a myriad of flavours and textures that will engage all the senses. This experiential journey is our interpretation of creative cuisine, using the freshest produce and the freshest ideas. It is a complete meal that ends on a sweet note and all at an attractive price,'' says Chef Daren.
For the 7-course cuisine, you will able to enjoy the palate cleanser, appetiser, soup, entrée, main course, desserts, and drinks. Other than the palate cleanser and appetiser that are fixed by the chef, you do have several choices on the rest of the menu.
So, I started my journey of flavours with Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter
-Velvety Matcha-Lime foam covering a chilled Lime Snow
I really like this as the starter. A bit of sour is actually pretty decent choice for palate cleanser.
I don't usually like sour stuff, but this tasted just nice.
It wasn't something hot as I thought, but icy and chilled.

Coming up with appetiser - Savoury Éclair
-Gruyere flavoured Pâte à Choux decorated with
Aubergine Caviar, Green Chile Pesto and Tomato Confit.
This was quite a special combination with gruyere cheese on pate a choux and those toppings.
The pate a choux was quite crunchy and created a flavourful mixture of taste with the toppings.

For the soup, I ordered Strawberry Gazpacho
- Chilled Cold Soup of Strawberries garnished with Dehydrated Strawberries and Microgreens.
This soup was very interesting, as I have never try any strawberry soup before.
It has a combination taste of sweet and sour. A very special dish to me.
For those who love strawberries I would recommend to try this.

Entrée - Chicken Liver Parfait
 - Creamy Chicken Liver covered with a brûlée top served with Toasted Bread and Apple Chips.
The creamy chicken liver was quite overwhelmed to me. I would never thought of the combination like this. It was actually nice to have the chicken liver with the toasted bread and apple chips.
This was such a creative combination that will definitely wake up your taste buds.
But if you do not like the taste of liver, this might not be a good choice for you.

Main Course - Duck Breast with Orange Purée and Roasted Beetroot
-Sous vide pan seared Pekin duck breast with
Orange Purée, Roasted Beetroot and Valrhona Dark Chocholate.
This dish was specially recommended by Chef Daren and is inspired by Cantonese roast duck, which is usually a dry dish. Chef Daren uses the sous vide method to make the meat tender and finishes the dish with an accompaniment of Navel orange and 66% dark chocolate sauce.
The duck breast was so tasty, juicy, and the texture was just nice.
With the combination with orange purée and dark chocolate, you will get a burst of sour, bitter, and sweet notes in your mouth. It was a new taste to me, but still I prefer the original taste of dark breast.

For the dessert I had - Raspberry Decadence
- Luscious Raspberry Cheesecake with Raspberry Gel accompanied by
Lemon Meringue Shards and Passion Fruit Gel.
I like the part that I started and ended my meal with the taste of sour. Because of the lemon and passion fruit, this choice of dessert was more towards sour flavour, which was my choice of the day.

Lastly, a sip of Sparkling Iced Berry drink would perfect my fine dining.
I like that the waiters remembered our orders and served the food at the right timing. I rated 4 stars for the ambience, because it is still located in the midst of a busy mall where you can here noisy chit chatting and people walking around outside the dining place. Overall, I would recommend everyone to go try this place for their creative cuisine and to experience fine dining at a lower cost. Below is my rating for my experience of fine dining at MARCO Creative Cuisine:
